When should I go to the hospital?
It is recommended that if you experience chest pain which lasts longer than three to
five minutes and which is relieved only temporarily by rest and recurs several times, it
is important that you seek immediate medical attention since this may be a signal of heart
attack and time is of the essence. If you are alone, call an ambulance; if you are with a
companion, have them drive you to the hospital. Do not attempt to drive yourself as you
may endanger others as well as yourself. There are thrombolitic drugs that can relieve
symptoms to the patient and add valuable time.
