Why do my legs swell?
Leg swelling (edema) can be caused by both cardiac and noncardiac conditions.
Individuals already diagnosed with some kind of cardiac condition who experiences swelling
of the legs should seek medical attention and explore the value of prescription
medications to remove the extra fluid. This is a progressive situation which, if left
untreated, can seriously compromise the ability for any exertional activity, not to
mention simple activities of routine daily living, without experiencing shortness of
breath, needing several pillows to elevate the head in order to sleep, and a general
overall distressed level of health.
