A. JAMIL AHMED, MD, FACC, FCCP is an interventional cardiologist who joined Galichia Medical Group in March 2010. Prior to that he was practicing in Nebraska.

Dr. Ahmed is originally a native of Pakistan. He received his undergraduate degree from Pakistan with honors in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. He ranked first among all college (premedical) graduates in his state and was awarded "The President of Pakistan Merit Scholarship". He subsequently completed medical school at The Aga Khan University, Pakistan, one of the most prestigious institutions of medical education in Asia. Subsequently he completed three years of postgraduate training in Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the same institution in collaboration with University of Alabama Birmingham and Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta. He then moved to United States in 1998 and completed postgraduate clinical training including Internal Medicine residency at The State University of New York in Syracuse, Cardiology fellowship at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta, and Interventional Cardiology fellowship at The University of Virginia at Charlottesville.

Dr. Ahmed practices both interventional and general cardiology. He performs transesophageal echocardiograms, ECHO and Nuclear stress tests, cardiac and CT angiograms, pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, and endovenous laser ablation for varicose veins. But his specialized area of interest is interventional cardiology focusing on coronary and peripheral arterial disease. He is also trained in structural heart disease interventions including ASD/PFO closures. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. He is board eligible in Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Medicine, Endovascular Medicine and Cardiac CT. He is a fellow of American College of Cardiology and American College of Chest Physicians, and a member of Society of Vascular Medicine, Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention, Society of Cardiac CT and Society of Vascular Ultrasound. He has published articles in international peer reviewed journals.

In his free time he likes to travel and spend time with his wife and 4 year old daughter.
