Dr. Bowles is a
cardiologist and gastroenterologist with specific interest in interventional cardiology.
His professional training and experience are centered on the diagnosis and treatment of
heart and gastrointestinal disease. He graduated magna cum laude from Ouachita Baptist
University in 1971 with degrees in psychology and biology. He received his Doctor of
Medicine from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, in 1975 as a member of the honorary
AOA society. He completed residency training in internal medicine and fellowship training
in gastroenterology, receiving his board certification in these two specialties by 1981.
After five years of private practice, he entered a cardiology fellowship at the
Mid-America Heart Institute, St. Lukes Hospital of Kansas City, MO. In 1987, he
completed his training and became board-certified in cardiology. His subsequent clinical
experience includes training in angioplasty and board certification in critical care
medicine. A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Bowles has been active in
medical research as an associate of the Galichia Research Institute. He has contributed to
a number of clinical studies and publications; most notably, studies related to laser
therapy and restenosis of coronary arteries. Dr. Bowles is active in the diagnosis and
treatment of gastroentestinal diseases; particularly, non-cardiac chest pain evaluation.
